We at ABT are very excited about the new e-Organizer that our tax software company is offering.  The e-Organizer is similar to the paper organizer that you currently receive from us, except that now it arrives via e-mail.

When you receive your e-Organizer just enter your tax data directly onto the e-Organizer screens.  The prior years amounts will also be available for reference.  Once you've completed entering your tax data, close the program and follow the simple instructions to e-mail the data back to us.

When we receive the e-Organizer we’ll review it and enter the data in our tax program prior to your appointment.  We can e-mail you any questions related to the information you’ve provided prior to the appointment.  When you arrive for your appointment we will review with you the data sent on the e-Organizer.  This will save time during your tax appointment and we’ll be able to complete most returns at the tax appointment.  Shorter processing time of returns means faster refunds!!

If you prefer you can print the e-Organizer and bring the printed copy to your tax appointment or fax it back to us prior to your appointment.

Please contact Joe, Joni or Scott with any questions or concerns you have on the e-Organizer.

Marriage Penalty Relief is here

The standard deduction for a joint return increased to twice the amount of the single return. The 15% income tax bracket amount will be increased to an amount that is equal to twice that of single filers.

IRA’s, Roth IRA’s, Educational IRA’s and SIMPLE’s

Finally someone heard our cry that the contribution limits are too low and need to be increased.

Roth IRA’s and traditional IRA’s will have a limit of $4,000 in 2006-2007 and $ 5,000 in 2008. After 2008 the contribution amount is indexed with inflation in $500 increments.

Starting in 2006, the SIMPLE plan contribution amount is indexed with inflation in $500 increments (like IRA’s).

If you're age 50 or over you may "catch up" on your IRA’s, SIMPLE plan, 401(k), 403(b) and 457 plans. On the IRA and SIMPLE the "catch up" is $500. On the 401(k), 403(b) and 457 plans the "catch up" is $4,000.

Tax Benefits relating to Children

The Child tax credit is $700 for 2006-2008, $ 800 in 2009, $1,000 in 2010 and $500 in 2011

Dependent care tax credit (day care) is $ 3,000 for one child and $ 6,000 for two or more children.

Please don’t hesitate to call Joe or Joni with any questions.
